Meet The Staff

Karen Tanzini - Program Director

Karen graduated with honors from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York with a bachelors degree marketing, public relations & creative writing. Karen is a self-taught cartoonist and artist since her childhood, winning awards for her artwork and paintings throughout the years. Karen also studied graphic design in New York City at the New York Institute of Technology. She has a great deal of interest in animation, sketching, and watercolor painting. She loves pop art and her favorite artist is Roy Lichtenstein!

Fun fact about Karen: She worked as a park ranger one summer at Niagara Falls state park!

Sharon Shrader - Instructor

Sharon graduated with a degree in design and business from East Carolina University in Greenville NC.   Since she was young, she has enjoyed capturing pictures of what's around her to recreate her own unique art.  While she was in school she won a few awards for her work focusing on sunsets in eastern NC.  She loves loves abstract art and landscapes and her favorite mediums to work with are watercolor and pastels.  Sharon's favorite artist is Kandinsky.

Chelsea Fields - Lead Instructor

Chelsea is a mother and portrait artist from Detroit, Michigan. She studied Studio Art and English at Marygrove College. She has taught Art and English to children and adults for over 10 years in museums, enrichment programs and schools throughout Chicago, Toledo and the Triangle. She received her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Illinois. She works as a commissioned portrait artist, face painter and ESL teacher. Chelsea has a great passion for Latin American painting and Graphic novels. Her favorite medium is chalk pastels.
 
Fun fact about Chelsea: Chelsea is an avid collector of antique toys.
 
Julie Driggers - Lead Instructor

Julie grew up in Wake County  (Raleigh) and attended Wake County Public Schools. She has a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Barton College and received her K-12 teaching certificate at Meredith College. Julie has taught art in Wake County Schools for 28 years and has loved every minute. When she has time, she loves to read, watercolor paint and cook. 

Interesting fact about Julie: She loves to play golf and can beat all 3 of her brothers (as well as her husband )!

Christina Kellogg - Lead Instructor

Christina Kellogg is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio/Fine Arts along with a Minor degree in English. During her undergraduate years, Christina enjoyed a variety of creative pursuits including art in various media, writing and poetry. Upon graduating, she discovered her passion for teaching young people as well as working with the senior population to enrich their lives through art. A lifelong resident of the Raleigh/Cary area, Christina enjoys painting, journaling, reading, exercising and spending time with family and friends.
